Why did you move to Sweden?

I was relocated with my job.

When did you move to Sweden?

May 2012

What do you wish you knew about Sweden, when you first moved here?

I was presented with a book on Sweden, when my employer decided to relocate me with the job to Stockholm. However, I wish I was given information on long term living in Sweden even before I decided to move here. I am referring to things like buying apartments, the Swedish culture of vacations etc. I found it extremely easy to buy an apartment, you feel confident through out the process. And you just trust the system and know that it will keep you safe.

How would you compare the Swedish work culture to your home country’s work culture?

It is very peaceful working in Sweden. People have clear demarcation between work and personal life, and the employers respect it. Work is lot less stressful and progress in work is much more transparent.

What’s your favourite part about living in Sweden?

The Swedishness and the access to nature. By Swedishness I mean the attitude of people, how they take breaks, leave work at a decent time to have time for family etc. I have spent a lot of time outdoors - hiking, camping and biking.

What do you struggle with the most in Sweden?

The time it takes to reach home in India.

Will you/did you fill in the form for the work permit extension application yourself?

Yes. However, I handed the application in to an agency that processed it with the authorities.

Any tips for people doing the work permit extension application?

I hear a lot of issues of late with people not receiving their extensions on time, or not receiving them at all. I would encourage any new applicant to be super thorough in the applications, making sure they understand the rules before applying. And most importantly patience.

When did you get your work permit extension?

June 2016.
